14. Please describe your reactions/ideas to the following quote: "He does not possess wealth, it possesses him."

I believe that what this quote is saying is that when a man has a lot of wealth, (money for example), they tend to get carried away with that feeling of "power" and take advantage of it, almost in an uncontrollable way. They are so infatuated by it that they can't seem to think clearly, like they are possessed by it. They probably will do things with that money that they would've never done before. People who can't control themselves with money will probably and most likely spend it carelessly, and in less time than they think, it will all be gone.
15. What is the most valuable contribution you could make to a college campus? Explain.
16. Explain a significant experience, achievement, risk you have taken, or ethical dillema you have faced and its impact on you.
17. Discuss some issue of personal, local, national, or international concern and its importance to you.

18. If you could choose two things to change about our high school campus, what would they be and why?

If I could change two things about our school campus they would be the staff and the classes that are offered. I believe that in order for students, (and the school in general), to be successful, the campus needs to be run by someone who has experience and knows what they are doing. These people need to make smart decisions and have motivation, because if they don't care about us (the students), then who will ? They need to have faith in us and never give up, always keep on trying no matter what obstacles we encounter as a school, because in that same way - as a school- together we will overcome them. Now, part of the changes this staff would have to make is the classes that the school offers. This will offer students an opportunity to possibly discover a passion for something they didn't know they had, or for those students whose flame already exists- to develop it more.

19. Should school attendance be mandatory? In your answer, be sure to explore what the function of education is, and what our nation would look like if the masses were less educated.

School attendance should not be mandatory. Public schools have adopted the image of free education. Students do not have to pay and are allowed to be given an eduction. I do not see it as free education. I see it as forced education in which children initially forced by their parents are placed into a system that requires you to attend school from an early age till you're an adult. It is required to attend school 5 days a week. There is a punishment if you do not attend, that which is detention or a bad citizenship grade. This then punishes you later on with college and it can be the difference as to whether you get accepted or rejected into such college. As said before it is forced education not free. Mandatory attendance is even enforced by the law so much that if you get caught walking outside of school during school hours you are fined for doing so. Its gone so far as to being called illegal. Is it really then Free education? With "free" education one should be able to decide whether he or she wants to take this opportunity to be educated. If a person decides not to go to college, why should they have to attend school to learn so much more then they really need to know for their future? And for those that might miss a day or two or even up to a week find themselves in trouble for not having attended. But what if they had an emergency or were having problems and needed some time off to fix things? Mandatory attendance scolds them for missing these couple of days. By not having mandatory attendance the students should take the initiative to attend, it should be their own responsibility and they should take it upon themselves to go to school on time and every day. Responsibility is taught cause of this, and it helps those who shouldn't really be getting in to trouble because of missing.

20. If you had the ability to talk to one species of animal, which animal would you choose to communicate with? Why?

If I had the ability to talk to one species of animal I think it would be deep sea fishes. Bodies of water make up about 71 percent of the earth, and humans only know about 2 percent. The ocean contains history from sunken ships in war to those such as the Titanic. By speaking to these fishes we can not only know about what they have seen but they can also guide us to these locations. With the seemingly abyss that is the ocean it would be interesting to learn about the way these fishes feel about swimming into the obscure waters. Some fishes that live in the deep, swim in what is mere darkness, without any source of light. It would be interesting to ask these fishes if they know where they're going and if they do not, then I would ask why they swim in the deep.
